Boy Meets World

When Mayur Pattni graduated from University this year, rather than whining about the difficulties of getting a job, he decided to start his own business, selling experiences.

“I stumbled across these experience days online. I did some research and found the market was growing in the UK, Europe and in the US. So it seemed a good idea to go into that field.”

Mayur came up with the concept of a website offering a whole host of different experiences, including driving luxurious sports cars, bungee jumping and sphereing, and christened it MyCoolWorld.

“The goal is to be one of the coolest providers of experience days and be more down to earth. We want to be young and vibrant and bring a more local appeal to these days.”

“Other sites have lots of experience days, but don’t have a wide variety of one type. They have a lot of driving days for example, but we’ve got more unique combinations. You can drive an Audi R8 and  Nissan GTR and then there’s an Aston Martin DB9 and Ferrari 575 experience.”

“On top of that, we’ve got this new experience called Spy Games. You can pretend you’re James Bond with different activities like sniper shooting and laser combat.”

MyCoolWorld is filled with different experiences, but Mayur is still looking to innovate with new ideas.

“We’re always working hard to come up with more original experience days. We do a lot of research and our goal is to bring out as many unique experiences as possible.”

“We also offer a custom made experience. For example, if you’re going on holiday to Spain with your mates, we can offer you a spy game over there so you’ll be an international spy!”

As well as providing experiences, memories and once in a lifetime opportunities, the website sells gadgets, radio controlled helicopters and gift vouchers.

“We want to be doing more than just experience days and will be selling some really cool gadgets and gizmos in the near future. If you’re not sure what experience or present your loved one or friend would want then you can buy a generic gift voucher, which is valid for all of the services on the website.”

“We also set up a link with the NUS so students get a 10% discount on experiences and we’re running a competition with them to give away two Audi R8 experiences.”Being based in Leicester is also a big advantage as far as Mayur is concerned.

“We’re going to be specialising in Leicestershire and the surrounding area. Leicester is one of the largest cities in the country and has a big student population. The aim is to be the ultimate local provider that our customers can connect with. Most of the experiences are in Leicestershire or close by.”

A man with big ideas, Mayur’s enthusiasm for his business and determination to succeed is clearly evident.

“In five years time I want MyCoolWorld to be one of the biggest online shops and one of the best suppliers of experience days. The vision for the company is that in five years, if you want something cool, you only need to come to one place and that’s MyCoolWorld.”
