Marcus, 24, a drama teacher and Liz, 22, a shop assistant and student were selected to receive a reader makeover courtesy of Style Me Happy, an exclusive new service which offers trend and styling advice for both males and females, a complete wardrobe makeover for a lifestyle change or simply just an image revamp for a special occasion.

As part of their experience, each reader received a one-on-one image consultation with Director, Amy Johns, to determine what kind of outfit they were looking for and for what occasion.

“Both Marcus and Liz are looking for that perfect outfit to take them from day to evening for their office Christmas party and wanted a full makeover, which included hair re-style and for the girls, makeup,” said Amy.

“Marcus wanted an up-to-date look which could easily be combined with the rest of his wardrobe but still feel like he had made the effort. Liz has a very busy lifestyle and often finds it difficult to put an outfit together which she could transform for her night out.”

Both readers had a hair consultation at Toni and Guy on Market Street, Leicester and a makeup/skincare consultation at Femi Health & Beauty on Highcross Street, Leicester.

As part of the personal consultation, the day before their makeover, a number of shops in the Highcross Shopping Centre were visited and outfits tried in each. Amy pieced together a strong selection of combined outfits, which were wearable for the office and easily transformed into a sassy outfit for their evening festivities.

Jon, Art Director at Toni and Guy, wanted to revamp Marcus’s style and was more than happy to go for it as he felt his style was outdated. After a trim and addition of product, Marcus was ready to go.

For the ultimate low maintenance Christmas party look, Jon added product and using hair straighteners gently waved Liz’s hair. After adding fixing product Liz was looking amazing. All in all it took twenty minutes, perfect for dashing in between the office and bar!

Femi applied a base of foundation and powder to even out Liz’s skin tone. A soft grey, glittery eye shadow and a few false lashes added drama around the eyes. The overall look was subtle but made a glam difference from her day wear make up.

Amy suggested that both went for an outfit that could be worn for work during the day, but spruced up and glamorised with a few key accessories and updates to make an eye-catching outfit for the evening. This way, the carefully selected extra pieces bought would be wearable again and wouldn’t sit in the back of the wardrobe until next year!
