Wonder Women

Businesswomen from all over Leicestershire will be swapping the office for the rugby pitch to take part in a 5k ‘I do it for LOROS!’ fun run at Leicester Tigers’ Welford Road ground next summer.

On June 6th, women from a whole host of industries will be donning their trainers to run a figure of eight circuit around the pitch to raise money for Leicestershire based charity LOROS.

The fun run has been launched by Charlotte Thompson, a 37-year-old Personal Trainer from Leicestershire who famously ran five marathons in five days in April this year, including the London Marathon, to raise money for LOROS.

Charlotte’s running exploits have helped to bring together a network of successful local women, including Saffron Garratt, the Senior Business Manager for Natwest, Liz Foxwell Canning, a Business Link Adviser and Marisa Spiteri, the Corporate Fundraiser for LOROS who have all helped make the event possible.

They have supported Charlotte’s fundraising and work together to make things happen and have come up with the concept of a fun run in Leicester for LOROS.

The run is available to females of all ages and abilities and will take place from 10am until 3pm with 100 ladies invited to start the run every hour on the hour. Charlotte will be there to start the event with stretches and warm up exercises to show people how to successfully run a 5k distance.

As well as the run, there will be plenty of other attractions for Tigers fans and the whole family, including merchandise and refreshments on sale, tours of the stadium, the opportunity to meet some of the players and a chance for the kids to have a go at the mini Tigers Rugby Academy.

All of these activities are included in the £25 registration fee with a % of sales taken on the day given direct to LOROS. Every penny of the £25 Registration is to go direct to the LOROS Charity as well as a % of additional takings on the day.

Tigers have donated their stadium free of charge and club legends Martin Johnson and Matt Poole are backing the run, with Matt comparing the event.

If you fancy getting into shape, improving your fitness, setting yourself a challenge for the New Year and raising money for an excellent cause then sign yourself for the run and say ‘I do it for LOROS!’
