To banish those post-Christmas blues and look ahead to the New Year, Curve is pleased to announce its Spring season of shows, with an exciting and varied range of productions from early December to June 2010.

If you haven’t already planned your Christmas evening of fun for the family, then book tickets to see Peter Pan – A Musical (3rd December – 23rd January 2010). Curve is set to be transformed into the magical world of Neverland and with spectacular effects.

There is a wide selection of productions to entice all avid theatre goers through Curve’s doors next year.

Curve’s Artistic Director, Paul Kerryson of Leicester Theatre Trust was delighted with the iconic venue’s first year.

“We are thrilled to be looking ahead to 2010, with an exciting range of productions for January to June. After the success of The Pillowman, we bring to Leicester Martin McDonagh’s bloody and outrageous comedy thriller, The Lieutenant of Inishmore and Shelagh Stephenson’s critically acclaimed The Long Road; a powerful and moving story that affects us all.”

But that’s just a taste of things to come, as the blend of diverse shows increases throughout 2010, to Kerryson’s delight.

“We are pleased to be welcoming back the Donmar, Unlimited Theatre, Third Angel and celebrated Italian company, Teatro Kismet, with The Mermaid Princess. Audiences can find themselves at Susan and Darren’s 70s disco party from the brilliantly inventive Quarantine company. The breathtaking energy of Ghostboy blends Street dance, hip hop and a great new story.”

The embarrassment of riches for the Leicestershire public continues with the premiere of a new version of Oscar Wilde’s sensual Salome; a collaboration with Headlong Theatre Company, following their critically acclaimed production, Enron. Dance audiences will relish Scottish Ballet, Vincent Dance and the sensational Cirque of Traces.

The popular and successful productions of The Rat Pack Musical, The Woman in Black and multi award-winning The 39 Steps, combined with local companies Nupur Arts, Leicester Amateur Operatic Society and Random Line bring their popular productions to Curve and there is plenty more to look forward to, including the Leicester Comedy Festival.

Kerryson also seems keen to embrace interaction with the venue’s audience, as minds, both young and old, are inspired to learn through the Experience Curve Programme.

“We welcome everyone to join in with workshops, debates and other activities with the actors, writers and designers that reveal how we make and celebrate theatre in the unique and surprising spaces of Curve. Our commitment to our young audiences and their families continues with the series of productions in Little Curve on Saturday mornings, in the intimate atmosphere of our rehearsal room.”

Due to their popularity, an extended programme of Saturday morning sessions has been initiated for young audiences and their families with Little Curve.

Also extended for 2010, Leicester Comedy Festival revisits Curve with performances from Jenny Eclair, Russel Kane, One Man Lord Of The Rings and Sean Lock.
