School rewarded for buying promotional Leicester Tigers tickets.

Anthony Allen, current Leicester Tigers Centre visited Riverside Business & Enterprise College in Leicester to hand over in person, their Go Gold Cashback tickets for the Leicester Tigers V Gloucester game on 20th February 2010.

Riverside College was the first school to block-book the promotional tickets through the Cashback Scheme, in which Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport (LRS) have teamed up with Leicester Tigers to help raise vital charity funds for talented young athletes through the Leicester-Shire & Rutland Go Gold Talented Athlete Fund.

Allen, who previously played for Gloucester only last season, handed over the tickets to the group of sporty Year 9, 10 and 11’s who will be attending the game, which was arranged by Steph Magee, SSCo at the school. A number of other prizes are still on offer to other schools that get on board with the fundraiser.

Every ticket sold through the Cashback Scheme, for the Leicester Tigers v Gloucester game on Saturday 20th February 2010, will not only provide the opportunity to experience the thrill of a live Guinness Premiership match in the new Caterpillar Stand at Welford Road, but will also help LRS raise vital funds for Go Gold. Please be aware that there are only a limited amount of tickets available for this scheme.

The aim of Go Gold is to support talented young athletes in full-time education across Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland, who are currently performing at various levels in their sport, including those athletes who are being recognised by their National Governing Bodies of Sport as being our future Olympic, Paralympic, and commonwealth athletes and potential medal winners.

LRS are selling tickets for the game at a special price of £20 for adults, £15 for students (16-19yrs) and £10 for juniors, and for every ticket purchased Leicester Tigers will donate £5 to Go Gold – the deadline to purchase tickets is 5th February.

Schools, in particular, are encouraged to take up this opportunity as there are a number of competitions and prizes available to them:

  • First 20 Schools who sell 100 tickets will receive a first team player visit!
  • Top School Sport Partnership (SSP) to sell the most tickets will win a signed Tigers shirt; 2nd place will receive signed ball, to give to the school of their choice!
  • A squad signed Leicester Tigers shirt (presented on the pitch at half-time) to the Primary, Secondary and Special School who raise the most funds!
