Park and Ride to the Football

Leicester City fans are being encouraged to use the new park and ride service from Enderby to get to this Saturday’s match against Scunthorpe.

City’s mascot, Filbert Fox, got behind the wheel of one of the buses to show his support to the service.

Buses terminate in the city centre, but fans can get off just a short walk away from the Walkers Stadium, at a stop outside Leicester Royal Infirmary. The service runs every ten minutes until 7pm from Monday to Saturday.

A day ticket costs £3 and a group ticket for up to five passengers travelling together is just £3.50. Foxes fans can use the new service to arrive in plenty of time for this weekend’s 3pm kick off.

Lesley Pendleton, County Council Cabinet Member for Highways and Transportation at Leicestershire County Council, said: “We hope that with space for 1,000 cars, the new park and ride from Enderby can help to ease some of the match day congestion and take away some of the hassle of finding a parking space close to the Walkers Stadium.”

Jamie Tabor, Marketing Manager for Leicester City Football Club, said, “It is fantastic news that supporters will be able to make use of the new service.

“We are expecting another big crowd against Scunthorpe this Saturday. The new service will make it easier than ever for supporters to get to and from the ground.”

The new park and ride service is a joint project between the City and County Councils and construction partners Tarmac.
