A Paul Gallagher inspired City demolished Scunthorpe United 5-1 at the Walkers Stadium on Saturday. The 25-year-old Scottish striker scored his first goals for Leicester and the first hat-trick of his career. Michael Morrison opened the scoring with a powerful header, before Gallagher’s deflected drive and well placed free-kick made it 3-0.
On loan striker Martyn Waghorn added a fourth with a smart volley before Gallagher completed the scoring in the second half. The stunning performance was the club’s first five goal salvo at the Walkers Stadium and saw City maintain their play-off challenge. The Foxes currently lie sixth in the Championship ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Bristol City.
