Leicester’s boxing star Rendall ‘2Tone’ Munroe was officially launched as the Sporting Ambassador of Leicester-Shire and Rutland Sport at his gym in Leicester on Monday.

At the launch Rendall spoke to local pupils from Crown Hills Community College and encouraged them to get active, stay active and maybe try a new sport.

The European and Commonwealth Super Bantamweight Champion was born and raised in the city and has stayed loyal to his roots, even continuing his day job as a bin man.

An extremely hardworking individual, both inside and outside of the ring, Rendall shares LRS’s genuine passion to get more young people and people of all ages involved in sport and physical activity across the region.

With a World title fight well within his reach, Munroe has remained completely down to earth and a great supporter of local sport. As part of his role as Ambassador, Rendall will attend and speak at local key events and throw his Super Bantamweight behind local programmes and campaigns, including the Leicester City 3 x 30 minute pledge and the Active Together programme.

Rendall is delighted with the role and the opportunity to put something back into the community, whilst helping to inspire young people to take up sport and get more active.
