A team of Leicester City fans have decided to climb Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, to raise money for local charity, LOROS.

13 fans will be making the climb on Friday April 30th and staying the night on either side of the mountain in Fort William, Scotland.

The fans based all around the country, met on the BBC’s online football messageboard, 606, and decided to do something for LOROS.

The Leicestershire and Rutland hospice is the official charity for Leicester City this season and their logo appears on the current Foxes away strip.

Manager Nigel Pearson and his backroom staff have already done their bit by cycling from Newcastle to Carlisle for LOROS, during an international break, and the club has also designated the Bank Holiday Monday home game with QPR as the official LOROS fixture, to raise money for the charity.

The manager, his staff and the first team squad also took time out to visit the Groby Road charity recently and met staff, volunteers and patients.

After seeing the club’s efforts and knowing what a worthy cause the hospice is, Robin Monk and 12 other supporters have decided to do their bit for LOROS. Despite having precious little climbing experience between them, with just one member of the team having previously reached the top of Snowdon, they have decided to take on Ben Nevis.

BBC Radio Leicester reporter Ian Stringer is hoping to join the lads on their trek to help raise the profile of their efforts and do his bit for LOROS.

Please help Robin, Ian and the rest of the lads us by donating to LOROS through their JustGiving site www.justgiving.com/TheFoxesOfNevis.
