TV Chef and Leicester Market Ambassador, Rachel Green, will be appearing at Leicester Market next Thursday (May 20th) ahead of this summer’s Food and Drink festival.
Rachel, who will be carrying out cookery demonstrations and compering the event will also be showing her culinary expertise in the market on Thursday.
Rachel has appeared on several television shows, including ITV Yorkshire’s ‘Flying Cook’, BBC Three’s ‘Kill It Cook It! Eat it!’ and ‘Farm of Fussy Eaters’ on UK TV Style.
Last year, Leicester City Council and Leicester Market presented Leicester’s First Food Festival to celebrate food and diversity in the city. Rachel was special guest and displayed her passion for British food with entertaining cookery demonstrations during the day.
This summer’s Food and Drink Festival promises to be just as popular as last year’s and will take place in the market on Sunday May 30th.
An author of several cookery books, Rachel is also the face of the East Midlands for tasteEngland. Her culinary skills include modern British, Italian, Thai, Indian and Vietnamese.
A farmer’s daughter from Lincolnshire, Rachel is famous for championing British produce and believes that Leicestershire has great quality food.
“I think that the diversity of food in Leicestershire is amazing and the natural produce on offer is mind-blowing. There are great vineyards, cheese makers, spice producers, bison breeders and of course the famous Melton Mowbray pork pies!
“Leicester really is at the centre of the country in terms of natural produce. As a chef and a farmer, I definitely believe in using fresh local produce and I think if people don’t use local food then they will lose it.”
