After taking part in the sponsored LOROS Twilight Walk at The Walkers Stadium, Jo Chambers decided to donate her prize for being top fundraiser to auction.
On Saturday June 19th, Joanne walked 7km to raise much needed funds for the Leicestershire and Rutland Hospice. Out of 300 people, Jo raised the most sponsorship which entitled her to the star prize… 4 x VIP tickets for ’Wireless’ Festival being held in London.
The tickets for either Friday 2nd July or Saturday 3rd July, 2010 include entry and access to the VIP Garden Bar. Acts appearing on the Friday include Pink, The Ting Tings and Gossip and on the Saturday artists like Snoop Dogg and Missy Elliott will be performing.
But, Jo, from Birstall, has decided to donate the prize to be auctioned off, to raise even more money for LOROS.
Jo’s father was in LOROS 18 months ago, for 2 weeks, where the family stayed by his side every day until he passed away. Joanne, whose mother in law, Hazel Clayton also joined the walk, paid tribute to the Hospice.
“I want to carry on raising money for LOROS so more people can have the opportunity to pass away in a peaceful environment, with their family close by.”
Diane Morris, LOROS fundraising manager, encouraged people to bid for the VIP tickets.
“We want to thank everyone for raising money for us over the weekend, over 90 pence of every pound goes direct to patient care, so please dig deep for this amazing auction prize.”
Anybody interested in the prize should forward bids to loros@sjevents.co.uk or call 01162 302040.
The lot for the auction will close on Tuesday 29 June at 5pm with the highest bidder notified at 5.15pm that day.
