The summer term’s Foxes Learning Centre graduation evening took place on Monday in the Lineker Suite at Leicester City Football Club’s Walkers Stadium.

The achievement of 60 pupils from Coleman Primary School, Soar Valley Community College, Wyvern Primary School and Madani Islamic High School was celebrated.

The outstanding school and the outstanding pupil awards were claimed by Coleman Primary School (pictured) and Jasmin Sahota from Soar Valley. respectively.

Prizes, including LCFC t-shirts, tracksuits, training bags and match tickets, were handed out by Leicester City’s mascot Filbert Fox.

One parent commentated that the scheme had “exposed my child to opportunities that otherwise she may not have experienced in the curriculum. These activities give children a real confidence boost and are very important in developing a child’s self esteem.”

Brenda Jenner, a Year 6 teacher at Coleman Primary, agreed: “Pupils are more self confident in class situations and now take a more active part in discussions.”

The Foxes Learning Centre is one of a number of Playing for Success (PfS) programs running at professional sports clubs, and the Walkers Stadium scheme is a joint initiative between the National Government (via the Department for Education (DfE)), Leicester City Football Club and Leicester City Council Learning Services.
