Picture Special: A Great Day for a Great Cause
Leicester Legends met Nottingham Forest Legends at Quorn Football Club’s Farley Way Stadium yesterday afternoon in a special charity fixture to raise money for local charity Wishes4Kids.
The day proved a great success as an estimated 1,700 crammed into the stadium to support the legends and, of course, the charity.
Lining up for Leicester was former captain Steve Walsh, who organised the game, and Wishes4Kids Patron, Muzzy Izzet. Walshy and Muzzy were joined by the likes of Matt Elliott, Julian Joachim, Carl Muggleton and Gerry Taggart as a whole host of former City stars ensured an impressive line-up.
The Forest team also looked strong and included strikers Nigel Jemson, Jason Lee, David Johnson and captain Steve Chettle.
The game ended 4-4 with Tony Thorpe bagging a first half brace for Leicester and David Oldfield and City fan Sean Jeynes, who won an auction to play in the game, grabbing a goal each in the second half.
Tom Curtis, Adie Thorpe, Nigel Jemson and David Johnson scored for Forest.
The draw meant the trophy was shared, but a second leg in Nottingham is being planned to raise even more money for charity.
