Falcons Become Central Conference Champions

Leicester Falcons, the city’s premier American Football Team, secured their place in the British American Football Association, National League Division 1 play-offs after being crowned as Central Conference Champions.

They secured this with a convincing 57- 12 victory over their nearest rivals Birmingham Bulls on Sunday July 24th.

The game saw the offence click for the entire four quarters with Stuart Franklin taking the first half and Brad Thompson the second at QB.

Franklin connect in the end zone during the first-half with a pass to Dale Hawes. Timi Dada ran in from 30 yards out for his second touch down of the half and Ben Longland added to the convincing halftime score with a 24-yard field goal.

Jason Brisbane marshalled his defence to shut down the Bulls running game in their tracks with stand out performances from line backers Mike Feers, Parm Singh and JP Palmer.

In the second half, Brad Thompson continued to put on the points, with two passes to Alleyne to get his hat-trick whilst Dada ran in for his third score of the day. The scoring was finished off with Chris Rodrigo running back the kick off from the Bulls second score 76yards for a touchdown.

This victory ensures a home fixture for the Falcons in the National Playoff quarter finals on August 28th at Syston Rugby Club.

Before then the Falcons have their final regular season game at home against Cambridge on the August 14th again at Syston.
