Leicester City grabbed their first three points on home soil last Saturday, emerging 3-2 victors against early divisional pace-setters Southampton.
A clinical finish from Darius Vassell was added to by a superb strike by midfielder Richie Wellens, before the visitors grabbed a goal back through full back Dan Harding.
City’s third came deep into first-half stoppage time, when Southampton striker Rickie Lambert put the ball beyond his own keeper, giving the home side a two-goal cushion at the break.
Former Foxes striker David Connolly claimed his fourth goal of the season for Southampton shortly after the restart; however Sven-Goran Eriksson’s side hung on to ensure the win and gain the points required to move them up to 10th spot in the Championship table.
Leicester City’s next game at the King Power Stadium takes place on Saturday 17th September, kicking off at 3:00pm, with Brighton and Hove Albion the next opponents for the Foxes.
