Leicester City made it four consecutive league clean sheets last weekend, as Sven-Goran Eriksson’s side thrashed East Midlands rivals Derby County 4-0 at King Power Stadium.
David Nugent marked his return from injury with City’s first, bringing down Gelson Fernandes’ sublime pass over the top of the Rams defence, before confidently slotting beyond ‘keeper Frank Fielding.
Darius Vassell extended the Foxes lead on the stroke of half time, showing his predatory instinct as he latched onto Neil Danns’ deflected effort to make it two.
Whilst visitors Derby attempted to get a foot-hold in the game during the second half, Leicester City oozed class and it was two substitutions that made sure of the victory.
Jeff Schlupp met Matt Mills’ goalwards header to finish from close range, before City made it four in injury time. Lloyd Dyer latched onto Steve Howard’s header before controlling the ball and slotting it home between Frank Fielding’s legs.
Just one point now separates City from the top-six; four points provide the gap between the Foxes and second-placed Middlesbrough.
