A loyal Leicester City supporter can channelled his passion for the club into a new book, which is being sold to raise money for a local hospice.
21-year-old Jack Hubbard, who has been following the Foxes from an early age, has had the new book, titled ‘Leicester City Football Club – The Glory Days’ published to raise funds for LOROS, a charity close to the hearts of both the author and the football club itself.
Charting the success of Leicester City sides under legendary manager Martin O’Neill, Jack has spoken to some of the key characters in one of the
club’s most successful eras, with their respective memories of a golden era in the club’s history laid down for all to see in this fantastic new publication.
Figures, such as Steve Walsh, Kasey Keller, Muzzy Izzet, Steve Claridge, Robbie Savage, Tony Cottee and Matt Elliott have all spoken exclusively to Jack regarding their time playing in City blue and their memories of serving under a man now renowned as one of the finest man-managers in the game today.
“LOROS is a charity that I have been impressed with, in terms of the work that they carry out,” explains Jack.
“I know a couple of people that went there, so as a result, it’s a charity that I’ve had first-hand experience with.
“For the book itself, I interviewed twenty players that played under Martin O’Neill and it was really great fun to produce. The O’Neill era was the same sort of time that I started watching football and it formed by childhood, with the players inside the book the players that were my heroes growing up.
“I started wondering what had happened to these players, because Steve Walsh, Muzzy Izzet and Matt Elliott were massive names in Leicester and some of them you don’t hear much about nowadays.
“The initial reception for it has been fantastic. The fans that have bought the book already have said how great it is and how good it is to hear these players’ memories, so I hope that the more that word spreads, more supporters will buy it and support LOROS.”
‘Leicester City – The Glory Days’ is available now, priced at £11.99 – with £1 from every sale going directly to LOROS.
The 100-page hardback publication is the perfect gift for nostalgic City supporters and is available online at www.life-after-football.co.uk
